You’re never too old to benefit from orthodontic treatment. Today, adults make up about one in every five orthodontic patients. And that makes sense since orthodontic treatment today is better than ever. Especially at Davis & Goldberg Orthodontics!

Benefits of Adult Orthodontics

As an adult patient in our Greensboro and Highpoint offices, you’ll get access to benefits like:

  • Maintaining Dental Health – Misaligned teeth that go untreated can lead to other dental problems in the future, such as tooth decay and gum disease
  • Looking Good – Orthodontic treatment can give you the confidence and pride that come with straight teeth and a great smile
  • Straighter Teeth – Teeth that seemed straight and aligned when you were a teenager can shift later in life

Invest in Your Teen

The teen years are the most common time to complete orthodontic treatment. At this age, Dr. Goldberg, Dr. Davis and Dr Seitz can easily recognize issues with spacing, crowding, bite, and alignment.

Most importantly, your teen’s bone and jaw structure are formed enough for orthodontic treatment to start.

Signs Your Teen Needs Treatment

Straight teeth aren’t just about appearances. Untreated dental problems can have a lasting impact on your teen’s oral and overall health.

If you notice the following, then your teen could benefit from treatment:

  • Early, late, or irregular loss of their baby teeth
  • Difficulty with chewing or biting
  • Crowding or extra spacing between teeth
  • Jaws that shift or make sounds
  • Frequent biting of the cheek or the inside of the mouth
  • Teeth that meet abnormally or not at all
  • Jaws and teeth that are out of proportion to the rest of the face
  • Protrusion of teeth

Benefits of Straight Smile

Your teen has a lot to benefit from when it comes to orthodontic treatment, and looks are just part of the equation. As a patient with Davis and Goldberg Orthodontics, your teen gets:

  • Healthy teeth are less prone to wear and tear, chipping, and trauma
  • Reduced chances of developing gum disease, which can result in bone loss, decay, and tooth loss
  • Teeth that are way easier to keep clean, helping to prevent tooth decay and cavities
  • A healthier, more functional bite

Not to mention the significant boost to self-confidence that comes from a straight, winning smile. And what teen couldn’t benefit from that?

A Head Start to a Great Start

At Davis and Goldberg Orthodontics, we know nothing is more important to Greensboro and Highpoint-area parents like us than our kids. We want them to be happy and healthy, and that starts with a great smile!

Come See Us By Age Seven

Though it’s never too early to start thinking about your child’s oral health and alignment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your child have an appointment with a licensed orthodontist around age seven.

This is when enough teeth will be in place to allow Dr. Goldberg, Dr. Davis or Dr Seitz to evaluate your child’s orthodontic development. Believe it or not, they can predict future problems and potentially start guiding your child’s mouth through the growth process.

That’s because, by this age, they can spot developing tooth and jaw problems and recommend early treatment if deemed necessary. This can make a huge difference in your child’s smile. In most cases, early treatment isn’t necessary. If it is, though, it can be a real game-changer.

Choosing the Best Time for Treatment

Orthodontic treatment usually begins between the ages of 9 and 14, though this can vary depending on your child’s unique needs. Some orthodontic problems are easier to correct if they are treated early.

If Dr. Goldberg, Dr. Davis or Dr Seitz thinks your child will need treatment in the future, they’ll let you know the best time to begin treatment. This gives your orthodontist the best chance to:

  • Guide jaw growth
  • Lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
  • Correct harmful oral habits
  • Improve appearance and self-esteem in your child
  • Guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position
  • Create a more pleasing arrangement of teeth, lips, and face
