There are a few common misconceptions about orthodontics that we talk about with our patients at Davis & Goldberg Orthodontics. Some people think that braces are the only orthodontic treatment out there (they aren’t!), and others don’t realize that orthodontics is not only about cosmetics but also about long-term health!
One of the biggest misconceptions we hear about orthodontic treatment is its affordability. True, it isn’t necessarily cheap, but families of all kinds say the cost is worth it for the outcome! Don’t have dental insurance to cover the costs? There are still plenty of options available.
Let’s talk about it!
What is Orthodontic Treatment?
To get us started, we need a baseline for what orthodontic treatment is. We use it as an umbrella term for the specialized area of dentistry that focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and correcting misaligned teeth and jaws.
The reason why it is so important to treat these issues is because when misaligned, it can impact the daily function of your teeth and jaw. Biting, chewing, talking, and swallowing are all nearly subconscious habits that take place with the jaw and teeth, and avoiding issues in these vital functions is important.
When teeth or jaws are misaligned, it can sometimes lead to bigger health issues like tooth sensitivity and decay, cavities and tooth loss, jaw pain, speech problems, chewing problems, and more! These problems tend to get worse as you age, so it’s best to take care of them as early as possible! Anyone from children to adults can benefit from excellent orthodontic care!
Some of the treatment options that we use most often for our patients at Davis and Goldberg Orthodontics are Invisalign, braces, ceramic braces, two-phase treatment, palatal expanders, and more! Invisalign has become especially popular in recent years because of how convenient and discreet they are, and we love offering it to patients who are a good fit for that treatment!
What is Dental Insurance?
Dental insurance is a plan that helps cover expenses related to dental care. Most plans have a monthly premium, and depending on the type of plan that you have, some procedures may be covered, while others will be left to your own discretion. Each insurance company and plan is a little different, so it’s probably worth it to do research with your employer or wherever you get your insurance from.
There are often a number of restrictions and limitations involved in dental treatment coverage, including age, waiting period, and treatment type. Our capable office staff are here to help you file your insurance claim and communicate with the providers to help get a better understanding of whether insurance can cover part or all of your orthodontic treatment. If you do opt to choose insurance, our office takes most plans!
Is Dental Insurance the Only Way to Pay?
While insurance can be helpful to some families, others are happier paying their own way. There are a few reasons, and we’ll get into all the details below! Thankfully, there are a lot of options to work with, and our team is well-practiced at making the financial commitment as easy as possible!
Tailored Payment Plans
One thing we believe is that each family is unique, and so should their payment plan. That is why we take great care to work with every family individually to figure out the payment program and pace that will work best for them! Even if you are unsure whether you can cover the cost of orthodontics, it is definitely worth the visit just to sit down and talk through your options!
Flexible Financing Options
At Davis and Goldberg, we are proud to partner with OrthoFi, an orthodontic financing platform that makes it easy to finance orthodontic care. OrthoFi is also completely customizable, so you can feel secure in the payments and the pace.
Multiple Family Member Discounts
Do you have multiple children coming in for treatment over the course of several years? That earns you a special discount! Be sure to communicate with our staff, and they will make sure that you access the discounts we offer to multiple-member families!
Other Discounts!
Are you able to pay off the full amount by the time treatment begins? Congrats! Paying your bill in full early will earn you an extra 5% off of the total cost of treatment!
